TILT!, the movable glass and steel structure on the 94th floor of the John Hancock Center, opens Saturday. The observation deck uses three hydraulics to lean a 26 foot wide platform outward 30 degrees for a gut-wrenching, one-of-a-kind view of Chicago from 1,000 feet above the city. The Today Show promises “a new slant on the observation deck experience,” while the Chicago Tribune applauds the attraction for “wearing its engineering on its sleeve.”

TILT! was realized by the team of architect Gensler, engineer Thornton Tomasetti, and general contractor Turner Construction. Steel was fabricated by TrussWorks International, and installed by Cupples.
