The Westfield Group is one of the leaders in the national retail market, attracting over 500 million visits annually. In a competitive retail environment, Westfield excels by offering their customers an enhanced shopping experience. The glass cube project is a major component of that philosophy in action. The Westfield Group engaged Cupples to design and supply a glass box designed by JGMA offering maximum amounts of visibility and transparency, while staying within the original project budget. This was achieved by importing oversize lites of low iron glass to reduce the number of glass joints, designing a framing system that resulted in eliminating traditional patches or point supports visible from the exterior, and adding a glass ceiling, making the glass appear to be floating in space. The glass cube will be a visionary, tectonically advanced architectural addition to the Westfield properties.
